Carter & Catie - 18 months

Last month, the girls turned 18 months old.  They went for their check-up on October 19th and here are there stats:

Carter
22.5 lbs (25th percentile)
32 inches in height (60th percentile)

Catie
19 lbs (still just below the curve!)
29 3/4 inches in height (8th percentile)

You don't need pictures to see the differences between these two.  And Carter and Catie have proved to not only be non-identical twins - they are different in every way.  Their personalities are different, their eye color is different, their hair texture is different, etc etc etc.  Its so funny how very different they are.

Catie is our "little bit."  Its as if she was born knowing she is a petite little thing because she makes up for it with a HUGE personality. Catie is the one who started talking first and already has a huge vocabulary.  "Will" was one of her first words and now she says a lot: Mommy, Daddy, Will, Faith (with the "th!"), Bapa, neigh (like a horse), meow (like a cat), a-birdie (for bird), NO! (that's a new one), up (as in pick me up), more (as in give me more food - a favorite), juice, eyes, nose, etc etc.  Catie loves to dance dance dance and even sings.  She is known to strike a few "la la las" in the car.  Catie likes to be the center of attention and especially loves to make people laugh.  She is just hysterical.  (I seriously need to be better at keeping up with the blog to note a few of her funny things from time to time.)  Catie can also throw one hell of tantrum ... which is still more cute than it is upsetting because she is just so tiny and so dramatic about it.  She will bend over screaming, throw herself on the floor and pound the floor with her fists.  (Imagine a little tiny 18-month old doing that!) And Catie is all about her brother and Will is all about her.  They are like two peas in a pod and love to play together.

My dear Carter is our quiet one.  With her sister being such an outgoing and "in-charge" kind of girl, we try to make sure that Carter is given an equal amount of attention, although sometimes it can be difficult with how crazy Catie can be.  I am pretty sure Carter knows most of the words Catie does but often just chooses not to use them.  Carter either likes to sit back and watch what her siblings are doing or she likes to quickly take whatever toy they happened to be playing with!  She is also our climber.  It was not much time after she started walking before I found her standing on top of the kitchen table!  You have to watch out for her.  I think one of her favorite things to do right now is crawl, walk or scoot up and down the stairs now that she has learned how.  And she can cackle and laugh so hard when her Daddy tickles her.  Her laugh is very infectious and will make me smile no matter how hard things might be at that moment.  Carter is also our "poser."  She is so photogenic- not with a big cheesy smile but this very model kind-of pose that I call her "vogue pose." 

As the girls hit a year and half, I think Will has become the most jealous about them.  Anytime the girls are up and around, he has to jump in and be the center of attention.  It can be very taxing sometimes, especially on weekdays when we come home from work and only have an hour (or less) with the girls before its time for them to go to bed.  He gets Mommy & Daddy to himself from about 7 (after the girls are in bed) until about 9 (when he goes to bed), but he doesn't seem to "get" that yet.  Despite these jealousy issues, Will is an amazing brother.  He really does love his sisters and loves to play with them and make them laugh.  And I need to do a little post on the little booger soon.  He is just such a grown-up, incredibly articulate, smart (to the point of being a bit manipulative if you aren't careful!), and very imaginitive boy!
