A Birthday Party!!

Last Sunday, we celebrated the girls' first birthday party.  We had a casual, backyard party with margaritas, hamburgers and hotdogs and lots of friends.  This was perhaps more a celebration of Mommy, Daddy, and Will making it through our first year with twins.  :-)  The weather was perfect, and we really had a great time.  Bapa took so many wonderful pictures, I just had to share a bunch - - -

Will with his best friend, Patrick.  I'm surprised Bapa was even able to snap this picture of Will. He was in heaven, running and running and running with all of his friends.



For this party, the girls got smash cakes!  (And as a go-by in the pictures below, Carter is on the left in the pink bib, while Catie is on the right in the blue one.)

Catie took the term "smash cake" VERY literally.  

And, to make the "baby record" here, the girls went for their one-year well visit the a couple weeks ago.  They both got a thumbs up from Dr. Trey on their growth and development.  Catie is still such a little short fry, continuing to just follow along below the growth curve.  But the doctor was not worried because she does continue to consistently grow in height and weight (i.e. she does have a growth curve even if it isn't "average" like everyone else).  Here are their stats:

Carter:

Weight - 19lb, 8oz (25th percentile)

Height - 29 inches (50th percentile)

Catie:

Weight - 16lb, 3 oz (less than 5th percentile)

Height - 26 3/8 inches (less than 4th percentile)
