We are back from St. Simon's and it goes without question that Will loved the beach. Last year, he sat in the sand, eating it mostly, and staring in happiness at everything around him. This year, Will ran ... and ran ... and ran. All over that beach he went. I don't think he sat down longer than maybe 5 minutes to drink some juice or eat some raisins or play in the sand. So, although Mom & Dad were a little tired (beach vacation with a toddler is just a bit different, isn't it?) we loved seeing him have such a great time. St. Simon's has these great tidal pools at low tide that we could just let Will run wild in without worrying. And he loved it.
The waves intimidated him a little bit, but by the second day, he happily screamed in delight as each one lapped at his ankles. And he loved clinging to Mommy as we drifted over the waves ... in knee high water for Mommy. And he loved digging in the sand with Daddy (for 5 minutes) and then running with Daddy in the tidal pools as the tide came in.
And Will's name for the beach? "WATER!" :-)
