Will's Birthday!

On the 27th, my little man turned 5 years old.  At 5, Will is a little boy with tons of energy, wit, and humor.  He is an amazing drawer, coloring picture perfectly "in the lines" and drawing all kinds of pictures.  He can write all the letters, mixing up a few on occasion, but overall can write words if you spell them out for him.  Its going to be amazing to start seeing him read.  He can already start to recognize quite a few "sight" words.  He also has an incredible memory - so you better watch out.  And loves to ask lots and lots of questions.

Will definitely has enough energy to power a whole city though.  He loves to sleep late and stay up late.  Despite our efforts, he is not ever asleep by 9.  (Its going to be a challenge when he starts kindergarten.)  Last night, although I said good night a little after 9, he was still awake at 10:30.  I suppose he will always be a night owl.

He is the sweetest little boy with his sisters.  Don't get me wrong - the 3 of them can definitely (and loudly!) fight over a toy.  But Will loves to hug them, kiss them, and play with them.

On Friday, we went for his 5-year well check-up and everything looked wonderful.  His vision was 20/30, hearing test passed with flying colors - along with all the other tests.  His height and weight are just at the 50th percentile at 39 pounds and 43 inches!

For his birthday, we kept things fairly low key.  We had to work, so Will went to school.  But I gave him a superhero birthday pin to wear so everyone would know it was his birthday.  I got off work early and took cupcakes to his school for a little party.  Then, Bapa and Grandma came over for pizza dinner and a few presents.  Mommy & Daddy gave him a spiderman bike.  One thing Will does not have much of is patience, so its been kind of hard to get him to learn to ride the bike.  But we are slowly encouraging him, telling him how much fun it will be as soon as he gets the hang of it.

His birthday party with his friends is this afternoon and he is beside himself with excitement!
