The "Blizzards" of 2010/2011

This winter, we've had a heck of a lot of snow around here. Way more than us southerners know what to do with. First, we had a beautiful, white Christmas (okay - it snowed Christmas night) but we woke up the day after Christmas to this:

 We headed out that morning to play in the snow.  This was a good, wet snow, perfect for eating and building snowmen.  It was pretty while it fell, fun to play in briefly before we froze, and was gone before too much "interuption" of our lives.

The girls stayed nice and warm inside in their pjs.

And then, about a week later, on a Monday, we get this:

 This time, we got 5 inches of snow at our house (Ellis measured it).  After about 20 minutes in the deep snow, Will had enough.  And then it started to sleet with freezing rain that covered everything.  It was beautiful the next morning to see the shiny, white covering on all the lawns.  And then the ice and snow stayed ... and stayed ... and stayed .  Schools closed all week, although Will's day care opened up for part of the day Thursday.  Ellis and I had to go work on Wednesday and HOORAY for our nanny, Faith, who watched all the kids for us.  By Tuesday afternoon, being cooped up with 2 babies and a 4 year old ... we were done!!  I am seriously SOOOO ready for spring this year!
